Palmer Commons is getting a refresh in our Windows Lounge! We are undergoing renovations in the 3rd floor lounge to include extensive new seating, 3 separate focus rooms and additional places to plug-in for the UM community to enjoy and gather in! We want a student to make a mark here by designing a large scale art piece made from 2 dimensional felt panels that will span over 19 feet wide and 8 feet high. The design style for our renovations is mid-century modern with bold colors such as terra cotta, moss green, teal, gold and gray. The art piece will hang on a back wall with seating and the wall color will be an off-white.
UM has launched initiatives around Social Prescribing. Social prescribing connects people with non-clinical experiences — such as the arts, movement, nature, and service — to support their health and wellness.
We are stiving to connect our physical spaces with the arts and this call for art is a great start. The theme prompt is What Matters To You? We are seeking abstract interpretations of the prompt. The file must be in Vector file format.
