About the artist:
Reese Ford is an oil painter from Palo Alto, California, in her third year at the University
of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art & Design. Her art practice explores the capabilities
of the human body as a vessel of expression across a variety of life experiences.
Whether it is joy, captured through saturated colors and patterns, or strength,
conveyed through bold paint applications and brooding body language, Ford aims to
capture the wholeness of the human experience. The common thread uniting her works
is a unique shape language, using paint to create interlocking cels that merge into
form. This control is what is most satisfying to her, while still accentuating the vibrancy
of the medium. She remains curious about ways to further the complexity of her works,
complicating figurative compositions in a way where viewers’ eyes are led across every
inch of canvas.
